Colorado Bend State Park: What to Know Before You Go

Colorado Bend State Park sits in San Saba County along the Colorado River and offers hiking, fishing, caving, and a 70-foot waterfall.

Colorado Bend State Park is off a remote road near the community of Bend in San Saba County. The park covers rugged Hill Country terrain along the Colorado River. Its most popular feature is Gorman Falls, a 70-foot spring-fed waterfall reached by a roughly 3-mile round-trip hike over rocky ground. The park also has more than 35 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking.

Anglers can fish for Guadalupe bass and catfish in the river. Guided cave tours are available for an extra fee. Primitive camping is available — some sites have water nearby but no hookups. The daily entry fee for adults is $5; children 12 and under are free. The park often reaches capacity on weekends, so reservations are strongly recommended. Book through the Texas State Parks reservation system or call (512) 389-8900.
