Deer Hunting Rules for Crosby County

Crosby County allows up to 5 deer per season with specific rules on bucks, and both white-tailed and mule deer seasons apply here.

Texas Parks and Wildlife sets deer rules for each county. In Crosby County, you can take up to 5 deer total across all seasons. No more than 1 of those can be a buck. Archery season typically runs from late September through October. General season usually runs from November through early January. A youth-only season is also offered. A special late season for antlerless deer is available too. Check the current dates each year — they can shift.

Crosby County is in the Panhandle. That means mule deer rules apply here along with white-tailed deer rules. Mule deer have their own separate 1-buck limit. All hunters need a valid Texas hunting license. If you hunt during archery-only season, you also need an archery endorsement. Reporting your harvest is required. You can do it through the Texas Hunt & Fish app or online. Most land in this county is privately owned. You will need the landowner's permission or a lease before you hunt.
