Property Tax
Who Handles Property Taxes in Crosby County
The county tax assessor's office does not collect property taxes here — the appraisal district handles that role.
In most Texas counties, the tax assessor-collector collects property taxes. Crosby County works differently. The Texas Comptroller notes that the county tax office does not collect property taxes. That means the Crosby Central Appraisal District takes on that job for some or all local taxing units.
The appraisal district is at 109 W. Aspen St. in Crosbyton (phone 806-675-2356, website crosbycentral.org). If you own property here and have questions about your tax bill, appraisal notice, or homestead exemption, start there — not at the county courthouse tax office. Homestead exemption applications go to the appraisal district and are generally due before May 1 each year, but check the current deadline at the district.
