Deer Hunting Rules in Kent County
Kent County hunters can take both white-tailed and mule deer, but season dates and bag limits differ for each species.
Kent County sits in a zone where both white-tailed deer and mule deer seasons apply. For white-tailed deer, the bag limit is 5 deer total per season, with no more than 1 buck. General season runs from November through early January. Archery season opens in late September.
Mule deer have a separate, shorter season and a 1-buck limit. Exact season dates change from year to year. Always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual before you hunt. Most land in Kent County is private, so you need landowner permission. Some ranches enroll in the TPWD Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP), which can allow different tag rules on enrolled properties.
