Deer hunting in Lavaca County follows North Zone rules
Lavaca County falls under TPWD's North Zone for white-tailed deer, with a four-deer limit per season and antler restrictions hunters need to know.
Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) sets deer rules by zone. Lavaca County is in the North Zone. The bag limit is four deer per season total — no more than two bucks and no more than two antlerless. Only one of your bucks can have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. The other legal buck must have at least one unbranched antler.
Seasons rotate through archery, general, youth-only, and muzzleloader windows — exact dates change each year. Most hunting in Lavaca County is on private land. There is no state-owned wildlife management area open to walk-in hunting inside the county. Always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual for the latest season dates and any changes.
