Two offices handle your property taxes in Lavaca County

The Lavaca County Appraisal District sets your property value; a separate tax assessor-collector office collects what you owe.

In Texas, two offices handle property taxes. The appraisal district figures out what your property is worth. Then the tax assessor-collector sends the bill and takes your payment. These are separate offices — and you deal with each one differently.

If you think your home or land is valued too high, you protest at the appraisal district. The Lavaca County Appraisal District is at 908 N. Glendale St. in Hallettsville.
