Deer Hunting in Palo Pinto County Has Antler Restrictions
Palo Pinto County has specific antler rules for white-tailed deer hunting — not just a statewide bag limit.
The county allows up to 5 deer per season, with no more than 2 bucks. That is the bag limit. But there is also an antler restriction: only one of your two bucks may have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. A legal buck must have at least one unbranched antler OR an inside spread of 13 inches or more. These rules apply across all seasons combined.
Turkey hunting is also open in the county, with a 4-turkey annual limit. Dove hunting requires a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and HIP Certification. Seasons and exact dates change year to year. Always check the TPWD Outdoor Annual before you hunt — it has the current season dates and rules for Palo Pinto County specifically. A Texas hunting license is required for all hunters, resident or not.
