Deer Hunting in Red River County Has a Specific Antler Rule

White-tailed deer hunters in Red River County can take up to four deer per season, but only one buck can have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or more.

Red River County falls in TPWD's North Zone for deer. The limit is four deer total — no more than two bucks, no more than two antlerless. There is also an antler restriction: only one of your bucks can have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. The other buck must have at least one unbranched antler or a spread under 13 inches.

Archery season typically runs in late September through October. The general season runs from early November into early January. Wild turkey (north of US 82), dove, squirrel, and quail seasons also apply in the county. TPWD requires a hunting license and certain species require additional endorsements. Always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual before your season — rules and dates change each year.
