Deer hunting seasons and bag limits for King County
King County is in Texas Parks and Wildlife's North Zone for white-tailed deer. Know the bag limits and season dates before you go.
For the 2025-2026 season, white-tailed deer hunters in King County can take up to 5 deer total. No more than 1 buck is allowed across all seasons combined.
Archery season runs in late September through October. General season runs November through early January. Mule deer are also in the area. Panhandle rules allow 1 buck per season for mule deer.
Almost all land in King County is private ranch land. There is very little public hunting access. Most hunters need a lease or permission from the landowner.
Quail hunting is also available. The daily bag limit is 15 during the fall season.
