Property Tax
Who handles your property tax in King County
King County has a separate appraisal district and tax office — two different offices handle two different jobs.
The King County Appraisal District (KCAD) figures out what your property is worth each year. That value is set as of January 1. The appraisal district is at 800 S. Baker St. in Guthrie. You contact them to apply for exemptions or to protest your value.
A separate office — the Tax Assessor-Collector — sends your tax bill and collects payment. These are two different jobs, two different offices, even though they share the same building address in Guthrie. If you think your value is wrong, go to the appraisal district. If you need to pay or ask about your bill, go to the tax office. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for current contact details, since staff and rates can change.
