Deer Hunting Rules for Lipscomb County

Lipscomb County sits in North Zone for white-tailed deer and in the Panhandle zone for mule deer, so different rules apply to each species.

For white-tailed deer, hunters in Lipscomb County may take up to five deer per season, but only one can be a buck. All seasons combined count toward that limit. The general season runs from November into early January. A youth-only season and a special late season also apply — check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual for exact dates, since they shift slightly each year.

Mule deer are also present in the county. The mule deer bag limit is one buck for the entire season. The archery season opens in late September; the general mule deer season runs in late November and early December. Both species require a valid Texas hunting license. Mandatory harvest reporting for some species is required through the TPWD app or website.
