Public Hunt Drawing
Private Ranch Hunts Available Through a State Drawing
TPWD runs a drawing that gives hunters access to private ranch land in Lipscomb County for deer, pronghorn, and quail.
Texas Parks and Wildlife runs a drawing that gives hunters access to a private ranch in Lipscomb County. You apply for a chance to hunt white-tailed deer, mule deer, pronghorn, or quail. Only bucks are allowed for deer and pronghorn. Group size depends on what you are hunting. Deer hunts take one to two people. Pronghorn hunts are one person only. Quail hunts allow two to four people. If you are picked, you work with the landowner to set your exact hunt dates.
You apply through the TPWD public hunt system. Deadlines usually fall between August and October. Food and lodging may be on-site for an extra cost. This is one of the few ways to hunt here without knowing a landowner. Check the TPWD public hunting page each summer to find the new application window.
