Upland Birds
Panhandle Upland Bird Hunting in Lipscomb County
Lipscomb County has open seasons for both pheasant and quail, making it a destination for upland bird hunters in the Texas Panhandle.
Ring-necked pheasant season typically runs from early December through early January. Only roosters (male pheasants) may be harvested. The daily bag limit is three cocks. Both pheasant and quail hunting require an Upland Game Bird Endorsement in addition to a valid Texas hunting license. Pheasant hunting in the Panhandle is almost entirely on private land, so you will need landowner permission.
Quail season opens in November and runs through late February. The daily bag limit is fifteen birds. Lipscomb County's native grasslands and crop fields support both bobwhite and scaled quail. Check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual each year before you go, since season dates and limits can change.
