Deer and turkey hunting seasons in Callahan County
Callahan County is in the TPWD North Zone. White-tailed deer and wild turkey seasons run each year, but you must have a valid Texas license.
In Callahan County, the white-tailed deer bag limit is 5 deer per season. No more than 2 of those can be bucks. Archery season usually opens in late September. The general season runs through early January. A late youth-only season follows in January. Wild turkey seasons run in fall and spring. The turkey bag limit is 4 birds per season.
If you harvest a turkey, you must report it through the TPWD mobile app or online system. This is required, not optional. Most hunting in Callahan County is on private land.
