Hunting in Haskell County: deer and turkey seasons explained

Haskell County sits in TPWD's North Zone for deer and turkey, with a combined deer bag limit of 5 and a long general season running from November into January.

Haskell County falls in the North Zone for white-tailed deer hunting. The general season typically runs from early November through early January. You can take up to 5 deer total for the year, but no more than 2 may be bucks. Archery-only and youth-only seasons open earlier in the fall. A special late antlerless season usually follows the general season in January.

Turkey hunting is also open in Haskell County. A fall season runs concurrent with the general deer season. A spring gobbler season opens in late March and runs through mid-May. The annual bag limit for all turkey species combined is 4 birds statewide.

Most of Haskell County's land is privately owned, so hunters typically need landowner permission or a lease. There are no state parks or Wildlife Management Areas with public hunting access in the county. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual each year — seasons, bag limits, and special rules change.
