Hunting Seasons

Kerr County has strong deer and turkey hunting seasons

Kerr County falls in TPWD's North Zone for deer and turkey, with general deer season running November through early January.

Kerr County is in TPWD's North Zone for white-tailed deer. For the 2025-2026 season, the general deer season runs November 1, 2025 through January 4, 2026. Archery season opens earlier in late September. The bag limit is five deer total, with no more than two bucks. Wild turkey hunting also runs fall through early January, plus a spring season.

Deer and turkey harvests must be reported through the TPWD mobile app or online — this is a legal requirement, not optional. For dove, quail, and other migratory birds, separate endorsements are required. Always confirm current season dates and rules on the TPWD Outdoor Annual at tpwd.texas.gov before hunting. Seasons and limits are set each year and can change.
