Veteran Tax Benefits

Disabled veterans may qualify for a partial or full property tax exemption

Texas gives property tax breaks to disabled veterans. The size of the break depends on the veteran's VA disability rating.

Do you have a service-connected disability rating from the VA? You may qualify for a Texas property tax break. The higher your rating, the bigger the break. Veterans rated 100% disabled may pay no property tax at all on their home.

To apply, go to the Victoria Central Appraisal District at victoriacad.org. You will need papers showing your VA disability rating. Surviving spouses of qualifying veterans may also be eligible.

Dollar amounts can change from year to year. Check the Texas Comptroller's exemption guide for the current figures. Confirm the details with VCAD or the Comptroller before you file.
