Disabled Veteran Exemption

Veterans with Service Disabilities Get a Property Tax Break

Texas veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 10% or more qualify for a property tax exemption in Williamson County.

If you are a veteran with a service-connected disability, you may owe less in property tax. You need at least a 10% disability rating from the VA to qualify. The higher your rating, the larger the break on your tax bill.

Veterans rated 100% disabled can qualify for a full exemption. That means no property tax at all on a homestead. That is a significant savings for many families.

Surviving spouses and unmarried children under 18 of qualifying veterans may also be eligible. To apply, go to wcad.org or call WCAD at 512-930-3787. The sooner you apply, the sooner you start saving.
