Fayette County Reservoir is known for largemouth bass fishing

The Fayette County Reservoir, about 10 miles east of La Grange, is a power plant cooling lake that Texas Parks and Wildlife has ranked highly for largemouth bass.

The reservoir covers about 2,400 acres and reaches up to 70 feet deep. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) surveys have consistently ranked it near the top for bass quality — measured by average weight and catch rate. Warm water discharged from the power plant keeps fish active year-round.

You need a valid Texas fishing license to fish here. Regulations and license options are at tpwd.texas.gov. Check the TPWD lake page for current rules, stocking reports, and access information before you go.
