Who handles your property tax in Fayette County

Fayette County uses two separate offices for property taxes — one appraises your land, another collects the bill.

Two offices handle property taxes here. The Fayette County Appraisal District (CAD) sets the value of your property. A separate tax office then uses that value to calculate and collect what you owe. They are not the same place.

If you think your property is valued too high, you dispute that with the CAD — not with the tax collector. The CAD is located in La Grange.
