Flood Risk
FEMA Updated Flood Maps for Parts of Collin County
FEMA has issued preliminary updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps for several Collin County cities and unincorporated areas — check whether your property's flood zone changed.
FEMA prepares Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) that show which areas have the highest risk of flooding. Preliminary maps announced in May 2026 cover parts of Allen, Lowry Crossing, Lucas, McKinney, and Princeton, the towns of Fairview and New Hope, and unincorporated Collin County. Properties in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) typically must carry flood insurance if they have a federally backed mortgage.
Flood maps can change over time as development, drainage improvements, and updated hydrology data are taken into account. Use FEMA's Flood Map Service Center at msc.fema.gov to check the current zone for any specific address. You can also view the county's floodplain resources through the Collin County GIS portal at gis.collincountytx.gov.
