Fishing License
You Need a Texas Fishing License at Lake Fork
Any adult fishing public waters in Wood County — including Lake Fork — needs a valid Texas fishing license with a freshwater endorsement.
Texas Parks and Wildlife requires a fishing license for anyone 17 or older who fishes in public waters. At Lake Fork and other Wood County lakes, you need the freshwater fishing endorsement as well. Licenses can be bought online at the TPWD website or at local bait shops and sporting goods stores.
Licenses are tied to a calendar year and must be renewed annually. Fees and exact package options change — check the TPWD outdoor annual for current pricing. Children under 17 do not need a license, but Texas residents born before January 1, 1931, are also exempt.
