Greenbelt Reservoir Offers Fishing and Camping Near Clarendon

Greenbelt Reservoir sits just north of Clarendon on the Salt Fork of the Red River and is the main public outdoor recreation spot in Donley County.

Greenbelt Reservoir is located about 4 miles north of Clarendon. At full pool it covers up to 1,990 acres. The lake holds largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, walleye, white crappie, and other species. Texas Parks and Wildlife tracks fishing conditions there. There are five boat ramps, camping areas, and an ADA-accessible fishing pier. Anglers without boats can reach roughly 60 percent of the shoreline.

A use fee is charged to access the lake. The Lakeside Marina handles access and supplies. Drought conditions in the Panhandle can lower the lake level and affect ramp access, so check conditions before you go. Contact the Greenbelt Municipal and Industrial Water Authority at (806) 874-3650 or the marina at (806) 874-5111 for current lake levels.
