A Local District Regulates Water Wells Here
The Kimble County Groundwater Conservation District oversees well drilling and water use across most of the county.
If you plan to drill a water well in Kimble County, you need to contact the Kimble County Groundwater Conservation District first. The district covers most of the county. It regulates wells drawing from the Edwards-Trinity (Plateau) Aquifer, the main underground water source for this part of the Hill Country.
The district can require permits for new wells and sets rules about how much water can be pumped. If you buy rural land and want to drill, check with the district before you start. Their office is at 731 Main St., Suite B, in Junction. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
