Homestead Exemption
Homestead Exemption: Apply at the Appraisal District
If you own and live in your home in Jim Hogg County, you may qualify for a homestead exemption that lowers your tax bill.
A homestead exemption reduces the taxable value of your home. You must own the property and live in it as your main home. You apply through the Jim Hogg County Appraisal District, not through the tax office. The deadline to apply is typically April 30 of the tax year, but check with the appraisal district directly because rules can change.
The appraisal district is at 515 W. Viggie St. in Hebbronville. You can also reach them by phone at 361-527-4033 or through jimhogg-cad.org. Seniors and disabled homeowners may qualify for additional exemptions. Ask the appraisal district what forms you need.
