Property Tax: Two Offices, One County

Jim Hogg County splits property tax work between two offices, and knowing which does what saves you a trip.

The Jim Hogg County Appraisal District sets the value on your property. It is a separate office from the county. You go here to apply for a homestead exemption or to protest your appraised value. The appraisal district is on W. Viggie St. in Hebbronville. Its website is jimhogg-cad.org.

The Tax Assessor-Collector is a different office. You go there to pay your tax bill. That office is on E. Tilley St. in Hebbronville. Taxing units in the county include Jim Hogg County, Jim Hogg ISD, Jim Hogg WCID No. 2, and a county Emergency Services District. Rates change each year, so check the current tax bill or the county website for exact amounts.
