Property Tax Exemption

Lower Your Tax Bill With a Homestead Exemption

If you own and live in your home in Webb County, you can apply for a homestead exemption that reduces the taxable value of your property.

A general residence homestead exemption cuts the portion of your home's value that gets taxed. To qualify, you must own the home and live in it as your main residence. You file one application with the Webb County Appraisal District — not the tax office.

Additional exemptions are available if you are age 65 or older or have a qualifying disability. The general deadline to file is April 30 of the tax year, but check the WCAD site for the current deadline because it can shift. Once approved, you do not need to reapply each year unless your situation changes.
