Hunting in Fisher County: Seasons and Bag Limits

Fisher County sits in Texas's North Zone for deer and turkey, with specific bag limits and endorsement requirements hunters need to know before going afield.

Fisher County falls in Texas's North Zone for deer and turkey. White-tailed deer hunters get a bag limit of 5 deer per season. No more than 1 of those can be a buck. General deer season usually runs November through early January. Archery season opens in late September.

Mule deer are also found in the county. That season runs in two parts: an archery-only window from late September through late November, followed by a short general season in late November and early December. The combined bag limit is 1 buck.

Turkey hunters may take up to 4 birds per season. Quail season generally runs November through late February. The daily bag limit for quail is 15. Dove season opens September 1 in the North Zone.

You need the right add-ons to your license. An Upland Game Bird Endorsement covers quail and turkey. A Migratory Game Bird Endorsement covers dove. If you hunt waterfowl, you also need a Federal Duck Stamp.

Seasons and bag limits change every year. Always check the current rules with TPWD before you go out.
