Hunting in Colorado County: What Seasons Apply
Colorado County sits split by Interstate 10, which matters for dove seasons, and the county supports white-tailed deer, dove, quail, waterfowl, turkey, and alligator hunting.
TPWD divides dove seasons by zone, and IH-10 is the dividing line in this county. Land north of IH-10 falls under the Central Zone; land south falls under the South Zone. The South Zone generally has a later opening date and a slightly longer season. Both zones require a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and HIP Certification.
White-tailed deer are hunted under North Zone rules here, with an archery season in fall and a general season running into early January. The county bag limit is up to four deer (no more than two bucks). Antler restrictions apply. A spring turkey season is open for gobblers in April. Alligator hunting has a short non-core season in spring. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual for current season dates before you go — dates change year to year.
