Hunting Regulations
Hunting Rules Specific to Motley County
Motley County sits in deer and quail country, and TPWD sets specific bag limits and season dates that hunters need to know before heading out.
For white-tailed deer, the bag limit is 5 deer total per season, but no more than 1 buck. Motley County is also in the Panhandle mule deer zone. For mule deer, a legal buck must have an outside antler spread of 20 inches or more, and the limit is 1 buck per season. Both whitetail and mule deer seasons are active in the county — confirm the current dates on the TPWD Outdoor Annual before you go.
Quail hunting runs roughly November through February, with a daily bag limit of 15. Pheasant season is also open here in December. Seasons and limits change each year. Always check the TPWD county regulations page for Motley County before you hunt — it lists current dates, limits, and any special rules.
