Inks Lake State Park sits about an hour northwest of Austin and offers nearly 200 campsites, 9 miles of hiking trails, and direct lake access.
Inks Lake State Park is at 3480 Park Road 4 West in Burnet. The lake is a reservoir on the Colorado River with a surface of 831 acres. It holds largemouth bass, Guadalupe bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. The park has a two-lane boat ramp, fishing piers, and equipment rentals including kayaks and paddleboards.
Day-use admission is $7 for adults; children 12 and under are free. The park has nearly 200 campsites plus 22 cabins, including ADA-accessible options. It fills up on weekends — reservations are strongly recommended. One important rule: zebra mussels have been found in the lake. You must clean, drain, and dry your boat and gear before leaving any zebra-mussel-positive water. Possessing zebra mussels is illegal under Texas law.
