The Kerr Wildlife Management Area offers public hunting by draw

The 6,459-acre Kerr WMA near Hunt allows public hunting for deer and turkey, but you must win a spot through TPWD's public draw system.

The Kerr Wildlife Management Area sits at the headwaters of the North Fork of the Guadalupe River near Hunt, Texas. It covers 6,459 acres of Edwards Plateau habitat. White-tailed deer and wild turkey are the primary game species. The area also holds javelina, bobwhite quail, and many migratory birds.

You cannot just show up and hunt. All hunting at the Kerr WMA requires a permit through TPWD's Public Hunting Draw. You apply during the application window, and if selected you receive a permit. The main entrance is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fishing and wildlife viewing are also available with an Annual Public Hunting Permit. No camping is allowed.
