Freshwater Fishing
Lake Corpus Christi is 20 miles northwest and open for fishing
Lake Corpus Christi is a large reservoir in the Nueces River watershed, known for excellent catfish and crappie, with boat ramp and pier access through the adjacent state park.
The lake covers about 18,256 acres and sits in San Patricio, Live Oak, and Jim Wells counties — just outside Nueces County but close to Corpus Christi. TPWD rates catfish as excellent and largemouth bass as good. Anglers often report largemouth bass over five pounds.
Lake Corpus Christi State Park borders the reservoir and provides a lighted fishing pier. Boat ramp availability can change with lake levels; check the US Army Corps of Engineers website for current conditions. All statewide fishing regulations apply.
