Property Tax Basics
Two different offices handle your property tax
The appraisal district sets your property value; the tax office sends the bill and collects the money.
Two offices are involved in your property tax. The Nueces Central Appraisal District decides what your property is worth. It does not collect money. The Nueces County Tax Assessor-Collector sends your tax bill and takes your payment.
If you think your value is too high, you protest with the appraisal district. If you have a question about your bill or want to pay, you contact the tax office. Keeping these two roles straight saves confusion. Both offices are in Corpus Christi.
