Caldwell County has a large number of active taxing entities. Your tax bill can include the county, a school district, a city, a water district, an emergency services district, and a community college. There are seven school districts active in the county, along with multiple municipal utility districts (MUDs).

A MUD is a special district that can add its own tax rate on top of all the others. Two properties just a short distance apart can have very different total tax rates.
