Tom Green County has seven school districts. They are Miles ISD, Christoval ISD, San Angelo ISD, Water Valley ISD, Wall ISD, Grape Creek ISD, and Veribest ISD. Each district sets its own tax rate.
San Angelo ISD covers most of the city and the land around it. If you buy rural property outside the city, it may fall under a smaller district instead.
This matters because the school district part of your property tax bill is usually the biggest single charge. When buying property outside San Angelo city limits, ask your title company or the Tom Green County Appraisal District which school district your land is in. The appraisal district is the office that sets property values and can tell you which taxing units apply to your address.
