Mustang Island State Park has five miles of Gulf Coast beach and camping

Mustang Island State Park on the barrier island south of Corpus Christi offers camping, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and bird watching on the Gulf of Mexico.

The park sits on State Highway 361 on Mustang Island, southeast of Corpus Christi. It has more than five miles of coastline. Campers can choose from 48 water-and-electric sites or 50 primitive drive-up beach sites. Hot showers are available near the developed campground.

A 20-mile kayak trail winds through Corpus Christi Bay for those who want calmer water. The park is popular during spring and fall bird migrations. It fills up fast on weekends; reservations are strongly recommended. The adult day-use fee is $7; children 12 and under are free.
