Orange County Is Not in the TWIA Windstorm Insurance Zone

TWIA is the state's backup windstorm insurer for coastal counties. Orange County is not on its covered list.

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is the state's backup wind insurer. It sells windstorm policies in 14 specific coastal counties when private companies won't. Orange County is not one of those 14 counties. TWIA policies are not available here.

If you need windstorm coverage in Orange County, you must get it from a private insurer. This still matters. Orange County gets hit by Gulf hurricanes. Harvey in 2017 caused major damage here.
