Montgomery County Has Grown Rapidly as a Houston Suburb

Montgomery County grew from about 128,000 people in 1980 to over 620,000 by 2020, driven largely by Houston's suburban expansion northward.

In 1980, Montgomery County had roughly 128,000 residents. By 2020, that number had grown to over 620,000. Most of that growth came from Houston expanding north along I-45. Communities like The Woodlands, Conroe, Magnolia, and Willis added large numbers of new residents over those four decades.

Fast growth means the county has many newer subdivisions and a lot of MUD and utility district infrastructure. Roads and schools are often under construction or expansion. If you are moving here, expect more development nearby. Check local planning documents to see what is planned near any property you look at.
