Property Tax
Who handles your property taxes in Eastland County
Two separate offices handle property taxes here — the appraisal district sets your value, and the tax office collects what you owe.
The Eastland Appraisal District decides how much your property is worth for tax purposes. It is located at 211 Inspiration Blvd. in Eastland. The tax assessor-collector then uses that value to send your bill and collect payment. These are two different offices with two different jobs.
If you own the home you live in, you likely qualify for a homestead exemption. Texas law requires school districts to subtract at least $140,000 from your home's taxable value. You file that exemption with the appraisal district, not the tax office. The general filing deadline is May 1 each year, but check with the appraisal district for current deadlines and any local exemptions on top of the state minimum.
