Who handles your property taxes in Floyd County

Floyd County has a separate appraisal district and tax office — you deal with each one for different things.

The Floyd County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It is located at 104 E. California St. in Floydada. If you think your value is wrong, you protest with the appraisal district, not the tax office.

The Tax Assessor-Collector office handles payments and vehicle registration. It sits at 105 S. Main St. in Floydada. However, the Comptroller's office notes this tax office does not collect property taxes directly — contact the appraisal district for property tax matters. Texas requires school districts to offer at least a $140,000 homestead exemption on a primary residence. To apply, file with the appraisal district. Check the appraisal district website or the Texas Comptroller's county directory for current deadlines and local exemption options.
