Property Tax
Who Handles Property Tax in Kleberg County
Two separate offices handle property tax in Kleberg County — one sets the value, the other collects the bill.
The Kleberg Central Appraisal District (KCAD) sets the appraised value of your property. It covers eight taxing units: Kleberg County, four school districts (Kingsville ISD, Ricardo ISD, Riviera ISD, and Santa Gertrudis ISD), the City of Kingsville, South Texas Water Authority, and the Kenedy County Groundwater Conservation District. Their office is at 502 E. Kleberg St. in Kingsville. If you think your property value is wrong, you file a protest with KCAD.
A separate office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, sends the bills and collects payments. That office is at 700 E. Kleberg Ave. in Kingsville. The Texas Comptroller's county directory lists both offices with phone numbers and mailing addresses. Check there for current deadlines, since protest and payment deadlines change year to year.
