Who Appraises Your Property in Potter County
The Potter County Appraisal District sets the value on your property, and that value determines what you owe in taxes.
The Potter County Appraisal District (PRAD) appraises all real and personal property in the county each year. Its job is to set a fair market value. It does not set your tax rate — that is done by separate taxing units like the school district and the city.
PRAD is located at 5701 Hollywood Rd., Amarillo. You can appeal your value if you think it is wrong. The deadline to file a protest is usually May 15 or 30 days after your notice arrives, whichever is later. Check the PRAD website at prad.org or the Texas Comptroller directory for current deadlines.
