Who handles property taxes in Ward County
Ward County has two separate offices for property taxes: one appraises your property, and a different one collects the bill.
The Ward County Appraisal District (WCAD) sets the value of your property each year. That value is used to calculate what you owe. WCAD is located at 808 S. Betty St. in Monahans. They can be reached at 432-943-3224 or at wardcad.org.
A separate office, the Ward County Tax Assessor-Collector, sends bills and collects payments. These are two different offices. Knowing this matters because you go to WCAD to dispute your property value, but you pay your tax bill through the Tax Assessor-Collector. The county has nine taxing entities that all draw from the same appraised value: Ward County, three school districts, four municipalities, and a water district. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for the full list.
