Two Offices Handle Your Property Taxes

Wilbarger County has a separate appraisal district and a tax assessor-collector — each does a different job.

Two separate offices handle your property taxes in Wilbarger County. The Wilbarger County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It does not send you a tax bill. The tax assessor-collector takes that value, calculates what you owe, and collects the payment. Both offices are in Vernon.

If you think your property is valued too high, you protest with the appraisal district — not the assessor-collector. The deadline to protest changes each year, so check the district's website or call them. For questions about your actual bill or payment, contact the assessor-collector. The Texas Comptroller's website lists contact details for both offices.
