Two different offices handle property taxes in Angelina County

Two offices handle your property taxes. One sets your home's value. The other sends the bill. Knowing which is which saves a wasted phone call.

In Texas, two offices share the property tax job. The Angelina County Appraisal District (Angelina CAD) sets what your property is worth each January 1. A separate office — the Tax Assessor-Collector — takes that value, applies the tax rates, and sends your bill.

Call the CAD if your value looks wrong. Call the CAD if you want to add or remove an exemption. The CAD is at 105 Miles Way, Suite 300, Lufkin, TX 75901. Phone: 936-634-8456.

Call the Tax Assessor-Collector to pay your bill, get a receipt, or transfer a vehicle title. That office is at 211 E. Shepherd Ave., Lufkin. Phone: 936-634-8376.

The county has seven school districts: Hudson, Lufkin, Huntington, Diboll, Zavalla, Central, and Wells. Your total tax rate depends on which district your land is in.

You can search property records on the CAD's website. Bills go out around October 1. They are due by January 31 of the next year.
