Two Offices Handle Your Property Taxes in Winkler County
The appraisal district sets your property value; the tax office collects the bill — and they are two different offices in Kermit.
The Winkler County Appraisal District (WCAD) decides how much your property is worth for tax purposes. It also handles exemptions like the homestead exemption. The appraisal district is at 107 E. Winkler in Kermit. You can reach them at 432-586-2832. If you disagree with your value, you protest through the appraisal district — not the tax office.
Once the value is set, the Tax Assessor-Collector sends your bill and collects the money. That office is at 100 E. Winkler St., also in Kermit, and can be reached at 432-586-3465. Several taxing units each add their own rate: Winkler County, City of Kermit, City of Wink, Kermit ISD, Wink-Loving ISD, and the Winkler County Hospital District. Check current rates at the Texas Comptroller's county directory page.
