How to protest your property appraisal in Brazos County
Brazos County property owners can challenge their appraised value through the Brazos CAD Appraisal Review Board — the deadline depends on property type and when notice is mailed.
When Brazos CAD mails your Notice of Appraised Value, you have a limited window to file a protest. For all property types, the deadline is May 15 or 30 days after notice is delivered, whichever is later. Missing the deadline means you cannot challenge that year's value. File online through Brazos CAD's protest portal, by mail, or in person at 4051 Pendleton Dr., Bryan.
The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) is a separate panel that hears disputes. You can attend your hearing in person, by phone, by videoconference, or submit a written affidavit. Bring comparable sales data, photos, or repair estimates to support your case. The ARB email is arb@brazoscad.org for protest-related documents.
Check the Brazos CAD tax calendar at brazoscad.org for the current year's deadlines, because dates can shift. If you are still unsatisfied after the ARB, Texas law allows you to pursue binding arbitration or file suit in district court.
