Tax Protest
You can protest your property value in Hill County
Hill County property owners can challenge the appraised value set by Hill CAD each year before the Appraisal Review Board.
If you think Hill CAD set your property value too high, you can file a protest. The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) is a separate, independent panel. It listens to both sides and decides. The ARB is not part of Hill CAD. Hearings are typically held in the spring and summer months.
To protest, file with Hill CAD by the deadline on your notice of appraised value. That notice comes in the mail each spring. If you miss the deadline, you lose your chance for that year. A successful protest means lower taxes for that year. Check hillcad.org for current forms and deadlines. These dates can shift, so check before you assume.
