Tax Protest

You Can Protest Your Property Value in Wichita County

If your property's appraised value seems too high, you have the right to challenge it each year before the Appraisal Review Board.

Notices of appraised value usually go out by April 15. You typically have until May 15, or 30 days after you receive your notice, to file a protest—whichever is later. You are protesting market value, not the appraised value used on your bill (that is a separate calculation you cannot protest directly).

You can file online at wadtx.com, by mail, or in person. A hearing is scheduled with the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), an independent panel. You can request one postponement before your hearing date. If you miss your hearing without rescheduling, your case is dismissed. Check current deadlines at wadtx.com before each tax year.
